ABOUT US

“We would be grateful if our products could settle naturally into your hands and daily life.”

  • Scars in leather are often avoided before a product ever takes shape.

They are set aside simply because they are considered visually imperfect.

    In questioning that assumption,

I began to wonder whether there might be a way to engage with those scars rather than discard them.

Using urushi lacquer and gold powder is one such attempt.

  • Through making, we touch upon sensations and emotions that have no form.

This approach is grounded in Hamadaya’s philosophy:
To sense the infinite within the finite.

Our process involves time-intensive techniques such as hand stitching and urushi lacquer finishing.
    These choices may appear inefficient,
but they allow us to work with care and comfort,
considering each material and every step along the way.

    The sound of cutting leather,
the subtle force of a hammer strike—
delicate sensations transmitted to the fingertips.

    Experienced through the five senses,
these moments gradually give rise to formless impressions:
    wonder, attachment, memories,
or emotions that resist being put into words.

Through making, we offer these intangible sensations and feelings.

“To sense the infinite within the finite.”

We believe this is what leads to a richness of the heart.
